A form of psychotherapy which creates the opportunity for children to express and process their thoughts and experiences through the medium of play and creative arts.

“Who is this for?

Children between ages 4 to 12 with:

• Challenging behaviours in school

• Family issues, like divorce, separation, or death of a close family member

• Natural disasters or traumatic events

• Domestic violence, abuse, or neglect

• Anxiety, depression or grief

• Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

“How does Joyous conduct Play Therapy?

• Children are free to explore the resources in the playroom, while the therapist observes and participates where appropriate.

• A special environment is created to allow the children to feel comfortable and secure enough to express themselves, promoting the development of confidence and enhancing their imagination and creativity.

• Children receive emotional support and begin to understand more about their feelings and thoughts.

• Children will also learn to manage relationships and conflicts in more appropriate ways. It often manifests in improved behaviour at school or a reduced anxiety.
