Occupational Therapy

“What is it ?

Learning program tailored to improve fine and gross motor skills and motor planning according to a child’s specific needs. It also addresses struggles with self-care and sensory processing.

“Who is this for?

Children with:

– Difficulties achieving age-appropriate developmental milestones

– Inppropriate social interaction

– Inadequate or inappropriate play skills

– Challenges with gross and fine motor skills

– Sensory processing disorders

– Behavioural challenges

“How does Joyous conduct Occupational Therapy?

Our therapists help children to:

• Develop fine motor skills (i.e.: grasp and release objects) and good handwriting skills.

• Improve eye-hand coordination which are necessary for school activities (i.e.: such as batting a ball and copying from a whiteboard).

• Master basic life skills such as bathing, getting dressed, brushing teeth and self-feeding.

• Learn positive behaviours and social skills by practising how they manage emotions.

• Improve abstract reasoning, problem-solving, decision-making, perceptual skills, as well as memory, sequencing, motor planning and sensory integration.
